Students compete in ECF Team Chess Challenge

Recently, we entered a team into the ECF Team Chess Challenge for U19s, and two teams in to the ECF Junior Team Chess Challenge for U13s. Our Junior A Team did fantastically well, winning nearly all their games and coming second overall – well done to Lucian H-D, Daniel S, Mark L and Reg D. The Junior B Team also did well, coming fifth – a fantastic achievement for players new to these kinds of tournaments. 

Although our U19 team did not score so highly, they faced some formidable opponents and still demonstrated some remarkable skills and determination. The event saw a total of around 30 teams/120 players, so this was a fantastic result overall for chess at Colyton Grammar School.
